Dr. Davenport’s test battery is thorough in that it is focused on assessing your child’s strengths and needs based on information gathered from the people who know him or her the best: you and his or her educators.
Dr. Davenport does not have a set battery of tests, but he uses an arsenal of standardized assessment instruments to document your child or teen’s unique strengths and needs. After a structured and thorough clinical interview with you, he determines what specific tests are needed.
In order to assure validity of test results, the focused test battery he administers takes about 3 hours for your child to complete. Dr. Davenport is aware of test batteries that take 6 or more hours to complete. His biggest concern with this type of assessment is that children with learning, attention, and other challenges are “worn out” after 3 hours of testing and results of tests administered beyond this amount of time may not render a true reflection of the child’s strengths and needs.
Dr. Davenport would rather test smarter by focusing on your child’s unique set of skills instead of administering a longer and less specific battery.
